Particle size of activated bleaching earth is measured by using a sieve test equipment.
The unit size of particles is mesh.
Fine activated fullers earth particles have size between 200 - 270 mesh.
If the mesh size is too smooth (mesh size >350); it would make the process of filtering in oil refinery jammed.
But if the mesh size of activated fuller's earth too rough (mesh size of <150); it will reduce the ability of activated bleaching earth to absorb color.
How to measure particle size fullers earth:
1. Weigh activated bleaching earth as much as 100 grams
2. Put the activated fuller's earth powder into the sieve test equipment, that has several trays; usually the sieve test has mesh 140 tray, mesh 200 tray, mesh 230 tray, mesh 270 tray, mesh 325 tray and mesh 400 tray.
3. Run the sieve test equipment for 15 minutes. Then open each mesh tray and weigh each activated bleaching earth powder in it. Note the result in percentage.
